South Dorset Athletics Championship 2018

On a bright sunny day at St Osmund’s middle school, hundreds of children from Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester gathered to take part in the annual South Dorset Athletics Championships. Organised by WSPH Coaching Coordinator Tracy Moore, with club president and chairman Pete Clarke and Tony Faulkner in officiating roles, the cream of the area’s yr 4, 5 and 6 athletes were put through their paces. The events ranged from 60m sprint up to 600m run and in the field there was long jump, high jump and rounders / cricket ball throw. “It was a pleasure to see so many WSPH athletes competing”, said Tracy, “at one point I was writing down the results of a sprint race, and four of the six semi-finalists were from our training groups” Seven of our U11 and U13 athletes have been selected to represent South and West Dorset at the county finals at King’s Park on Friday 29th June.
